Christmas lock-down questions grow as Omicron variant triggers restrictions

Updated: Dec 6, 2021

The Omicron variant “has the molecular characteristics that would strongly suggest that it would be more transmissible,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci. But according to WHO, it is not yet clear whether Omicron is more transmissible compared to other variants, including Delta. Researchers around the world are conducting studies to better understand many aspects of the Omicron variant. The WHO said, “information is limited. More information on this will become available in the coming days and weeks.” Even though we don’t know a lot about the virus, we have to prepare for the worst. Keep a physical distance of at least 1 meter(3.28 ft) from others; wear a well-fitting mask; open windows to improve ventilation; avoid poorly ventilated or crowded spaces; keep hands clean; cough or sneeze into a bent elbow or tissue; and get vaccinated to protect ourselves and others.

As we enter December, many types of events—Christmas and office holiday parties—are back. With the festive atmosphere, we should be more prepared to safely enjoy the holiday season. ThermaCheck® is a non-contact screening system that can check the body temperatures of up to 10 people in a group, within 1-4 meters (3.28-13.12 ft), and identify whether each individual is wearing a mask. The system enables screeners to avoid close proximity to screening subjects. In fact, the person monitoring the system could be in a different area or room to make best use of human resources. ThermaCheck® has been used by several conferences for its convenience, accuracy, and rapidity. It is ideal for hotels, companies, hospitals, schools and all kinds of events.
